Q. What is Conducted Face-to-Face?
A. Transactions conducted face to face infers that your customer hands you the credit card and then you swipe it using your terminal. Most normal retail merchants will should put 95 just in case your customers credit card can not be read by your terminal and that it needs to be "keyed-in". If you do not swipe a card at least 50% of the time then it is considered a MOTO account.
MOTO is short for Mail Order/Telephone Order. MOTO refers to anything "card not present" or "non face-to-face". MOTO also refers to Internet processing as well. Since cards are not actually being swiped in a credit card machine, the rates and fees associated are higher then what are charged for retail or "card present" transactions.
